Twitter Launches NFT Profile Picture Verification

Twitter has launched a new feature powered by one of the biggest NFT marketplace Opensea, letting users showcase their NFT assets as their profile picture and verify ownership.

To do this, users have to purchase Twitter Blue (which costs $2.99/month) and connect their NFT wallet to their Twitter account. This would display all the NFTs they own.

Twitter then encircles the selected NFT in a hexagon that proves its ownership. Tapping the NFT avatar discloses the NFT name, its original creator, collection description, and additional properties of the artwork.

Opensea believes that this would build NFTs conversations and communities across the social platform.

This feature is received with mixed reactions as there are questions on how secure it is to connect NFT wallet information to Twitter accounts and why pay $2.99/month for nothing (except bragging rights)?
