Binance, a leading digital asset exchange platform, has pledged its support to enhance Georgia’s cryptocurrency industry. The company will achieve this by introducing educational programs and other blockchain initiatives. Binance has been actively expanding its footprint in the region by implementing similar projects in various nations.

Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange globally, has announced a partnership with Georgia’s Agency for Innovation and Technology (GITA) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Both parties aim to collaborate on blockchain education and community initiatives, with a focus on advancing the growth of Georgia’s cryptocurrency industry.

Following a meeting in November between Binance’s CEO Changpeng Zhao and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the two entities have entered into an agreement. During their meeting, discussions regarding investments were also held. This cooperation encompasses initiatives from both Binance Academy and Binance Charity, as well as the organization of local events and hackathons by BNB Chain, as outlined in a press release.

“Our goals are in line with the Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology’s goals — together, we can create an effective system in Georgia, whereby innovation and technology can be developed,” Binance’s Regional Director Vladimir Smerkis was quoted as stating. He also noted:

For a long time, we have seen a huge interest in the cryptocurrency market and in particular, crypto education in Georgia. I want to separately emphasize that Georgia is one of the most innovation-driven countries in the region.

Avtandil Kasradze, Chairman of GITA, highlighted the significance of the blockchain hackathons and workshops that will be conducted in Georgia’s tech parks. These events will promote the creation of new start-up ideas and the commercialization of projects.

This is not the first educational effort by Binance in Georgia, a nation that is actively working to modernize its digital asset regulations and legalize its cryptocurrency sector. Earlier in January, Binance signed a memorandum of cooperation with Georgia’s Business and Technology University (BTU) to offer blockchain education to its students. Binance Academy will provide educational resources on topics such as blockchain, Web3, NFTs, and cryptocurrencies.

Binance has been actively involved in similar initiatives in other countries within Eastern Europe, the post-Soviet space, and the Caucasus region as part of its plan to increase its presence in the area. In December, the global cryptocurrency firm introduced a blockchain education initiative in universities in Kazakhstan and offered assistance to Azerbaijan in its pursuit of adopting cryptocurrency regulations.
